Sally Holmwood has worked as proof reader on a variety of projects for me for many years. She has always been able to quickly read through sometimes very lengthy documents and produce specific, easy to use and accurate feedback. I have always been impressed by her willingness to help and unselfish approach to sharing her time on often very tight deadlines.
As well as helping me with my own writing for various magazines and books, Sally has assisted greatly on some large scale projects I have produced.
In the case of “Wide Track News”, the magazine of the Pontiac Owners’ Club for which I was the editor from 2009-2010, the articles in the magazine were written by a number of different contributors and her help was invaluable in both removing grammatical and typographical errors and also ensuring the editorial “voice” matched in tone across the whole publication.
She has been of great help in the production of the 120 page “Book of Screams” for Tulleys Farm’s Halloween “Shocktober Fest” event, checking the written content of the book and again removing typing and grammatical errors, as well as suggesting revisions to phrases that might have otherwise seemed repetitive in tone. This has been an annual project for me since 2009.
I wouldn’t now consider submitting any piece of writing, be it for submission to a book or magazine or one of my own projects, without first running it past Sally’s expert eye.

Sally Holmwood was with us from July to August 2008 as an English conversation teacher working with adults at beginners' and advanced level on a 1:1 basis.
Thanks to her pedagogical skill and her didactic ability to focus on different attitudes towards learning and learning expectations, she was able to inspire her students to increase their motivation and to meet their intended learning objectives.
Mrs. Holmwood was very popular with students, colleagues and management alike. She was not only reliable, punctual and conscientious but suggested new ideas concerning the lesson content and methods.
We wish Mrs. Holmwood, who went back to Great Britain, all the best for the future.
Thank you so much for your help with "The Writhing Dark" anthology. The advice you gave the authors really helped improve their stories and I know that they really appreciated it. I'm so glad Stephen recommended you! I'm grateful for all the help you provided me - I know you put a lot of time and effort into your services and the anthology is better because of you!
The Indigo Languages team translated a sensitive personal letter to document for the French Court of Appeal. I had concerns that the legal process could potentially overlook the personal issues which the facts often conveniently overlook.
The mission was to translate a carefully crafted personal letter to support the personal/human aspect of the court deliberations, to preserve the intrinsic meaning of the original and convey that essential feeling into culturally acceptable French. Sally achieved that and I’m confident the court will affirm its original decision in my favour.
I was impressed by the collaborative approach which allowed me to insert a couple of subtle changes from my end which Sally included in the final version for me. My French lawyer was very happy with the submission, as am I. Many thanks for the excellent work!
Sally was an enormous help in purchasing specialist clothing from a Dutch/German website. She communicated efficiently between myself and the company, resulting in my purchase being very smooth. I cannot recommend her enough.
